Crochet Your Own Half-Sized Christmas Stocking: A Festive DIY Project

Welcome to a cozy corner of the internet where we indulge in the art of crochet. Today, I am excited to share with you a delightful crochet pattern for a Half-Sized Christmas Stocking. Materials Needed:


To get started on this charming project, you will need:


  • Worsted weight yarn in festive colors of your choice

    • Big Twist

    • Color: Sage Green (Color A)  & Cosmetic Pink (Color B) 

    • Size: 4 weight

  • Crochet hook H/8-5.00mm

  • Yarn needle

  • Scissors

  • Stitch markers (optional)


Pattern Instructions:


Follow these step-by-step instructions to create your very own Half-Sized Crochet Christmas Stocking.

**Each round will end by slip stitching into the top of the first stitch from the round before and then chaining one to begin the next round.

*** Starting at the Toe of the Stocking. Begin with either the Chain 2 method, the chain 4 method or the Magic Ring. (All begin a round and will get you to the same exact spot)


Toe (Begin with Color A):


  • Rnd 1: ch 1, 7 hdc in the first chain of the ch 2, (inside the ch 4 ring or inside the Magic Ring)(Total 7 sts) 

  • RND 2: ch 1, inc hdc in each st around. (Total 14 sts)

  • RND 3: ch 1, *inc hdc, one hdc.*  Repeat to around. (Total 21 sts)  

  • RND 4: ch 1, *Inc hdc, one hdc in the next 2  sts.*     Repeat to around. (Total 28 sts)


Crochet Christmas Stocking Cuff

  • Foot (Change To Color B):

Slip stitch into the same stitch you just slip stitched into to attach new color of yarn. 


  • RND 1-7: ch 1, make one hdc st in each st around, slip stitch into the first  st to close each round (Total 28 sts)


  • Wedge Section:

This is where you will make the break for the heel.


  • RND 8: ch 1, make one hdc in the first 13 sts,  ch 14, skip 14 sts, hdc in the last st, slip stitch into the first st to close round. (Total 28 sts)


Crochet Christmas Stocking Heel

  • Stalk:


  • RND 9: ch 1, make one hdc st in each st and in each chain around.  (Total 28 sts)  RND 10-21: ch 1, make one hdc st in each st around. (Total 28 sts)  At the end of round 21, slip stitch into the top of the first st.  Cut yarn leaving long enough tail to weave in your ends. Tie off.


  • Cuff:

**Switch to Color A

***Slip stitch into the same stitch you just slip stitched into attach new color.


  • RND 22-26: ch 1, make one hdc st in each st around. (Total 28 sts)  At the end of round 26, slip stitch into the top of the first stitch.   Tie off.

Weave in your ends.


  • Loop:

Begin with a 3 inch long tail.


  • CHAIN 12

  • Row 1:  sc in the 2nd ch from hook, make one sc in each st across.  (Total 11 sts) 


Cut 3 inch long tail, Tie off. With one tail join the two ends together. With the other tail attach the

loop to the inside of the stocking one row below where the color change is and preferably centered

where the crease of the stocking is.


Crochet Christmas Stocking Toe

  • Heel:

Looking at the back of the stocking where the heel opening is, slip stitch color A in the bottom corner where the last hdc stitch from color B is. 

We want to attach here to avoid forming a hole between colors. 

  • Rnd 1: ch 1, dec hdc the first 2 sts together, make one hdc st in each st across leaving the last 

              2 sts unworked. Dec hdc the last two sts together. (14 sts along the bottom) 

             

Flip the stocking so you are working the top of the opening. 

              

               Dec hdc the first 2 sts together, make one hdc st in each st across leaving the last 

               2 sts unworked. Dec hdc the last two sts together. (14 sts along the top) 

    



       

Slip stitch into the top of the first dec hdc to close round.


  • Rnd 2: ch 1, dec hdc the first 2 sts together. Make one hdc in each st across leaving the last 2 sts

              unworked. Dec hdc the last 2 sts. (Total 12 sts across bottom). 


Flip the stocking so you are working the top of the opening. 


                Dec hdc the first 2 sts together. Make one hdc in each st across leaving the last 2 sts

unworked.  Dec hdc the last 2 sts. (Total 12 sts across top). 



Slip Stitch into the top of the first dec hdc to close round


  • Rnd 3: ch 1, dec hdc the first 2 sts together, make one hdc in each st across leaving the last 2

st unworked. Dec hdc the last 2 sts together. (Total 10 sts across bottom) 


Flip the stocking so you are working the top of the opening. 


              Dec hdc the first 2 sts together, make one hdc in each st across leaving the last 2 sts

unworked. Dec hdc the last 2 sts together. (Total 10 sts across top) 



              

Slip Stitch into the top of the first dec hdc to close round.


Cut yarn leaving a 12 inch long tail to join sides.

Tie Off.



Using the whipstitch join method, align the top to heel with the bottom of heel and whipstitch top and bottom stitches together across.


Weave in all of your other ends.
