Hey there! I’m so excited you’re joining me for the Navigator Lapghan Project, a special collaboration with my friend Bonnie Barker to honor U.S. Veterans. This project is all about creativity, community, and giving back. Let’s get you set up so you can dive in and start crocheting!
What You Need to Get Started
Before we get started, here’s a list of supplies you’ll need for the project:
Supplies:
Yarn: I’m using LoveCraft’s Paintbox Yarn Simply Aran (a size 4 weight yarn with a 13 WPI).
Approximate Yarn Amount Needed: 6 x Champaign White, 6 x Cerulean Blue, 5 x Deep Sea Blue
Shop Paintbox Yarn here.
FYI, LoveCraft's is hosting a Giant January Sale Right Now if you would like to get your supplies
Crochet Hooks: A 5.0mm (H). Grab your hooks here.
Tapestry Needle: Perfect for weaving in ends and joining panels. Get one here.
Scissors: A good pair is essential. Check out these scissors.
Measuring Tape: Handy for checking your panel sizes as you go. Find one here.
Stitch Markers (Optional): These can be lifesavers for keeping track of your stitches. Get some here.

Yarn Substitution Options
If you’re not using LoveCraft’s Paintbox Yarn Simply Aran, no worries! Here are some great alternatives:
Lion Brand Heartland (Size 4, 12 WPI)
Red Heart Soft (Size 4, 12 WPI)
Caron Simply Soft (Size 4, 13 WPI)
When choosing a substitute, look for a size 4 weight yarn with a similar WPI (wraps per inch). This ensures your lapghan will come out just right.
Setting Up Your Space
Let’s make sure you’ve got the perfect setup:
Lighting: Good lighting is key for comfortable crocheting.
Seating: Find a comfy chair with good support.
Organization: Use a yarn bowl or bag to keep things neat.
Hydration: Keep a drink nearby—staying hydrated is important!
Preparing Your Yarn
A little prep work goes a long way:
Check for Knots: Inspect your yarn for any knots or imperfections.
Wind Your Yarn: If you’re using hanks, wind them into balls or cakes.
Test Swatches: Make small swatches of each panel pattern to get comfortable with the stitches.
Project Goals
This lapghan is about more than just crochet—it’s about connection and gratitude. Here’s how to make the most of it:
Share Your Progress: Post photos on social media using #NavigatorLapghan and tag me @CrochetWithTiffany and Bonnie @BonnieBayCrochet.
Customize with Care: Use colors that resonate with you or the recipient.
Enjoy the Process: Take your time and savor the experience.
Final Thoughts

Happy Crocheting!
