The 2025 Temperature-Sampler Blanket is a year-long crochet project designed to capture the daily temperatures of your chosen location through colorful rows of crochet. Each month features a new stitch to learn, keeping the project fresh, exciting, and filled with variety. By the end of the year, you'll have a beautiful, one-of-a-kind blanket that tells the story of the year through color and texture.
What You’ll Need:
- Yarn: Select 6-10 yarn colors to represent a range of temperatures for your area. For example, blues for cold temperatures, greens for mild, and reds/oranges for warm days. Choose a yarn weight (I recommend DK/size 3 weight) and fiber that works for your climate and desired blanket feel. Make sure all colors are from the same yarn line to ensure consistent texture and care instructions.
- Hook: Use the recommended hook size for your chosen yarn or go up/down a size for your preferred tension. I'm using a size G/6-4mm with my size 3 weight yarn.
- Temperature Gauge: Create a chart mapping temperature ranges to your selected yarn colors.
- Notions: Scissors, stitch markers, and a tapestry needle for weaving in ends.
- Optional: A notebook or digital spreadsheet to track temperatures and progress.
Pattern Details:
- Stitch of the Month: Each month introduces a new stitch, starting with the Alternate Stitch in January. The stitch of the month adds texture and variety to your blanket, making it a true sampler.
- Rows Per Day: Crochet one row each day using the temperature and color for that day.
- Changing Colors: If the temperature changes to a new range, you'll change yarn colors. I'll demonstrate how to transition smoothly between colors in the tutorial video.
- Project Size: Temperature blankets are known for being excessively long. There really isn't much we can do about that. Be prepared. To help balance the ratio of this blanket I am shooting for a width dimension around 5 feet wide with an estimate that this blanket will be approximately 8 feet long.
Tips for Success:
